Bury PKR in the polls, says Khairy

In-fighting will lead to defeat for Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Pas in the next general election.

Deputy Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said PKR was beleaguered by internal problems, while there was a rift between the old and the young in Pas.

He accused PKR leader and former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of being more interested in promoting his interests than the party’s or the people’s.

This, he said, had resulted in an exit of many of his strong supporters from the party.

"Anwar is simply incapable of promoting unity in any organisation that he has been in. He nearly caused a split in Umno and is doing the same thing in PKR.

"Right now, the party does not enjoy the support it used to. If he can’t manage his own party, how can we trust him to lead the country?" he asked when officiating the Kuala Krai Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri delegates’ meeting yesterday.

He said the people should "bury" PKR in the polls.

On Pas, he said it was facing similar problems, especially with the unease among members towards young professionals in the party.

He said Pas spiritual adviser and Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Nik Aziz Nik Mat also seemed to have vested too much power to his protege Datuk Husam Musa.

"Kelantan seems to have a second menteri besar and that is Husam. Nik Aziz just keeps mum and allows Husam to answer many controversial issues like the deforestation of Lojing Highlands and the mismanagement of Syarikat Air Kelantan.

"Husam is becoming all powerful, even stronger than the deputy menteri besar." (Malaysia Today)
